This piece can be worn as a bracelet or necklace. The closure is loosely based on the pelican clips found on sailboats.

The cord is indigo dyed in Portland ME and spliced in house.  Seized with waxed polyester.  Ends left long to fray with wear.  Due to the nature of the dye process this piece 'bleeds' during the first week or two of wear.  Please keep this in mind if pairing it with light colored clothing.

Bronze, Silver, Cotton, Indigo, Waxed Polyester

Usually ships within two weeks

This piece can be worn as a bracelet, necklace, or choker.  If you plan on wearing it as a bracelet select the size which is closest to the circumference of your wrist or larger.  The cord will stretch a little with wear.  I recommend starting with a comfortably snug fit.

I made the original prototype for this clip from brass, using fabrication and carving techniques.  A rubber mold was made from that prototype.  The clip is lost wax cast in the USA and hand finished in-house.  When wearing this piece be sure that the loop of cord which passes through the clasp is going over the piece that hinges, as in the pictures.

The base cotton cord is made in the USA.  It has a slubby lay, which compliments the nature of the piece.  It is loosely indigo dyed by a friend here in Portland Maine, and closed with a sailors short splice.  Because of the nature of the dye process this cord will 'bleed' as it is breaking in.  For the first week or two of wear it is not recommended to pair it with light-colored clothing.  The splice ends are seized with waxed polyester, and the ends are left long to fray with wear.  The The cord will undoubtedly change with wear, but the way in which it changes will vary from person to person, based on lifestyle and body type (everyone's sweat is unique).  The cord is water resistant but not water proof.  It will break down faster if you wear the piece constantly, but should last for years regardless.  I encourage you to wear it constantly and enjoy its evolution.  Replacement cords will be available in the future.

A nice fancy way to wear your Pelican Clip as a bracelet.....
