I fabricated the original pattern for the sister clasp from brass wire.  From this pattern a rubber mold was made.  The clasp is lost wax cast in the USA and hand finished in house.  The colored cords are waxed in house; the brown cord is hand dyed in house as well.

The Salvage Cord 2 option is of limited availability.  My younger sister found a spool of this cord buried in a garden.  It is naturally stained, and in some areas lightly frayed.  It is slightly stiff at first, but softened with wear.  It is nylon, and though quite old should still last for an extremely long time.  Like all of the synthetic cords I offer, it can be worn in the water with out fear of damage.

When I was about eleven years old my father taught me how to make this kind of closure using bolt cutters and links of chain. They are often used on boats, where they are referred to as sister clips, gangent hooks, or kissing clips.
